所謂、機械の指示する基準値に合わせるだけじゃ駄目ですよね。
理屈を知った上でのさじ加減がやはり必要かと。ＯＳＵさんのところはどんな機械でしょうか？
私が使っていたのはセットに時間が掛かるものでした。
以前、１００％、アメリカ人が顧客の職場に居ましたが、彼らはアライメントの重要性を
理解してますし（日本人比）、気軽に依頼されました。
未だに偏磨耗するタイアを見て「サイドスリップが狂ってる」と言う社長にも見習って
欲しいです。
そんな対、社長対策に来月弟を整備振興会のアライメント講習会に行かせます。
受けないと使わせてくれないので。

講師はたぶん僕の嫌いな人です。12年前に三級の講習を受けた時の講師なんですが、
昨年、１２年振りに会って、いきなり「オメー」呼ばわりされて以来、嫌ってます。
なので本来僕が行くところ、弟に行かせることにしました。
教科書通りのアライメント調整を教えられて帰ってきたら、
「オメー、それで真っ直ぐ走るのか？」と講師に言ってやるつもりです。

そうですね、講師によると本当にひどいですからね。一度以下のことを質問してみてください。
１．キングピンオフセットは何ミリまでなら許容範囲か。
その許容範囲をこえた場合、どのように処理すればよいか。
２．ホイールベース２．５メートルの自動車でスラストが１０分の自動車は幾何学中心 点（フロントホイールベースの中心点）から何ミリずれたことになるか。
３．高価なアライメントテスタは無いが、何らかアライメントのポイントを捉えた簡易
な測定方法はないものか。

Beyond that the math gets kind of sticky. (BTW I used the kreuzotter site to come up with my example. Pretty slick calculator.)

Caster Angle and 4WD Vibration
OK, so this is my latest problem. My steering box was shot so I just replaced it and had an alignment done. Surprise, Surprise...I still have some slight wandering. I know this has been covered ad nauseam and I relize that it is a caster angle problem (at least I think it is).

My question is this, my caster is currently 2, so if I add the RE steel shims that bolt to the leaf how many degrees do I want? They come in 4, 6 and 8. I am thinking 4 so that I will then have 6 total? Or does it not work that way?

Also, I ran the 4WD here today because we had some snow and I am getting vibration in 4hi in 2nd gear only. 4lo in all gears is fine. In 4hi it starts out fine in first, vibrates through second and then smooths out in third. I am thinking (or hoping) that this is all related to the caster/pinion. Anything else I should be looking at?

caster change versus lift
Simple question: with stock length control arms; how much does caster change per inch of lift?
Example: stock suspension equals x degrees caster. Same Jeep with one inch of suspension lift now has x-y degrees of caster.

Same Jeep with two inches of suspension lift now has x-2y degrees of caster, etc.
I am sure some of you guys have measured pre and post lift. Or someone has plugged this info into CAD and done the same.

The Toyota Strut King Pin Angle Database
After going through all the threads and getting conflicting information abotu a whole bunch of KPIs for various cars ive cracked it completely and just starting again to measure my own. In a similar way to Wilbos method here im using a digital inclinometer like this one:

Now i am making a couple of assumptions. One that the hub mounting face is essentially at 90° to the stub axle, and two that the impossibility of being exactly parallel to the angle of the mounting face (by virtue of the tubular nature of the strut) wont be a significant issue with the measurements. As such though all measurements in this thread might be out by say +-0.2° Keep that in mind.
So onto the measurements. This is how i do it:

Step1.
Place inclinometer onto the hub mounting face
Step2.
Zero the inclinometer
Step3.
Place inclinometer onto strut tube, try to get it roughly parallel to the mounting face, but in my testing a few degrees circularly off wont matter too much.

Step4.
Take a photo, use the macro mode on your camera, and try to take it off angle from the LCD. In that case i stuffed up.
Step5.
