P0AFC 129 HV battery voltage circuit malfunction Battery smart unit
http://enginedtc.com/p0afc-toyota-prius
Your Toyota Prius engine control system detects a problem, the computer stores the diagnostic trouble code P0AFC in its memory. To figure out what is wrong with your vehicle you must first extract the P0AFC DTC For Toyota Prius.
Another consequence of P0AFC Toyota Prius engine overheating may be a blown head gasket. Heat makes aluminum swell almost three times faster than cast iron. Thermal stress can distort the head and make it swell in areas that are hottest like those between exhaust valves in adjoining cylinders, and areas that have restricted coolant flow like the narrow area that separates the cylinders. The typical aluminum head swells most in the middle, which can crush the head gasket if the head gets too hot. This will usually cause the head gasket to leak compression between adjacent cylinders, or leak coolant into the cylinders.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The power management control ECU (HV CPU) calculates the differences between the received HV battery voltage, boost converter voltage, and inverter voltage. If any of the differences exceed prescribed values, the power management control ECU (HV CPU) determines that there is a malfunction in the battery smart unit circuit. When the power management control ECU (HV CPU) detects this malfunction, it will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
Turn the power switch off.
Turn the power switch on (READY).
With the shift lever in D, depress both the accelerator pedal and brake pedal at the same time to raise the SOC to a sufficient level.
2016/9/12(月) 午後 3:30[ ogw*og*3 ]返信する
Push the P position switch, check that the engine is stopped and move the shift lever to N.
Set the A/C for maximum cooling.
Leave the vehicle for a few minutes.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
Check that permanent DTCs are cleared.
If the permanent DTCs are not cleared, perform the universal trip, and then check for permanent DTCs again.
HINT:
If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Performing the check procedures for a long time with the shift lever in N may cause DTC P3000-388 to be set.

HINT:
If, after performing troubleshooting, it is necessary to replace the battery smart unit, voltages need to be confirmed after installing the new battery smart unit. Confirm that battery voltages (PWR RESOURCE VB), pre-boost voltage (VL), and post-boost voltage (VH) in the Data List are 220V or more with the power switch on (READY), park (P) selected, and the engine stopped.
2016/9/12(月) 午後 3:37[ ogw*og*3 ]返信する
When the system is normal, the PWR RESOURCE VB, VL, and VH values should be almost equal (voltage boosting will not occur when the shift lever is in neutral). If the difference between each voltage exceeds the values specified below, there is a malfunction in the battery smart unit.

NOTICE:
After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair manual because this may cause a malfunction.
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the service plug grip removed causes an interlock switch system DTC (P0A0D-350) to be set. Use the Techstream to clear the DTCs .
