O2 sensors Help Hello gang, happy new year wish you all health wish is the best treasure in the world and lots of blessings, OK directly to business, got a 2006 Grand Vitara V6 2.7L engine and the O2 sensors need replacement,
I checked with scanner and the real problem is the sensor's Heaters I checked with the live data and the ECU is getting readings from the sensors, so I went to local store and all tell me then same story not available have to special order,
I am ready to install the universal type and use the stock connector but found the connector a rectangular type for 6 wires only 4 are used can't find wiring diagram for this model hoping someone here has the correct wiring diagram, thanks in advance Turbo. P.S. I checked with boschDenso and NGK but got no where, I know bocsh wiring diagram is Black signal +, Gray Ground, and both white are heaters.

I believe the front sensors on the 2.7 are not standard oxygen sensors- they are linear air fuel ratio sensors. So you can't easily substitute a generic sensor and doing so may damage your vehicle. The rear sensors are standard heated O2 sensors but I'm guessing your issue is with the front. __________________ GV: 2010 3.2L 4WD

Bumping this thread, I'm in the similar situation replacing the pre-cat/upstream Bank 1 O2 Sensor. Originally it threw a code P0171 which was system to lean.
I didn't really go through the proper diagnostic procedures as seeing that a Bosch Universal O2 sensor was only $80. I decided to replace it and wire it up, I matched the colours according to the Bosch manual
OEM Sensor - Bosch Sensor Blue - Black - Sensor Positive White - Gray - Sensor Negative Black - White - Heating
To answer my own question, with buying universal sensors, you have to weary if the heating element is within the specified range for our GVs. The Bosch universal ones measured at 10.1ohms resistance across the heating element. Whereas the OEMDenso one I just bought is 2.9ohms.
The specified range is between 2-3ohms. Pretty annoyed that my local autoparts store sold me a universal sensor which clearly wasn't applicable to my car.
Without the proper diagnostics, you will not know what the real reason for the CEL... Could be a leaking exhaust system, a vacuum leak, a bad PCV, or the O2 sensor as the cause...

Now I get a P2237 code which says positive current control circuit/open.
TurboPirate, did you get your universal sensor to work or did you have to buy the direct fit OEM replacement?

they use a semi wideband sensor also so you cant get away with a universial sensor either, thats why they cost so much also. (what jza80 said)
