the person could have damaged the brake sesnor of one of the 2 wheels he was working on, thats the most likely reason.
damaged sensor = no abs or vdc
if you turn the key to MAR & not move the does the error occur? if yes then perhaps the fuse at the battery is blown [ 50 amp ] if no then i'd bet on it been a sensor. not too expensive to buy.

Well, I did not have to look at my sensors.
Advice from AO forum and ｣2.00 to my local Fiat dealer solved the problem. This was the yellow, 60A ABS fuse, in the box on top of the battery +ve post, which was broken.

It may well have had additional strain applied when I unfastened it recently to fit a caravan auxillary socket power supply.
So a major problem (apparently) had a simple solution.
Thanks for the ideas - ABS relay connections would have been the next point to look at but I went for the simplest solution first.

Thats why I started with the battery and connectors, as its often a voltage issue.
In your case - zero volts!
Glad youre fixed, its a common issue with that big fuse, I assumed that by the time you got as far as a diagnostic scan that the big power supply would have been checked.

Not sure about the correct setting for Toe in/out. But would have thought that 2mm at the wheel rim would not cause gross issues.
Camber and Caster, though not adjustable can change due to wear or damage (like a bent strut). Still very much worth checking to ensure they are right. Wear of ball joints can contribute to bad driving experience.
No particular recommendations for who, I'd take mine to a dealer for anything other than toe.

I just measured my car and found that the lowering is correct. A standard 156 has a ride height of 690mm, with the eibach sportsline it comes to 645 which is within the specification of the springs from eibach (approx. 45-50mm lower). That confirms that the springs have not sagged overtime.

156は電気部品の多くはボッシュ製、エアコンはサンデン製、V6のミッションはアイシン製なので、過去のアルファに比較すれば信頼性は明らかに上がっています。75や164のようにプラスチック部品も割れないし。
うちの156(V6)は7年乗っていますが致命的な故障はありません。ただし定期的なメンテはちゃんとしてください。タイベル交換、エンジンマウント交換などです。弱点はミッションとパワステラック、あとは稀に水周りでしょうか。

１５６ワゴンに乗っていますが、「ハズレ」なのか壊れまくってます。５年乗りましたが車検だけでもあちこち直し、整備料金がすごくかかりました。さらに車両を受け取り帰る途中にエンジンエラー。これはしょっちゅう出ます。排気のセンサーが誤作動？するらし くgo to ディーラー の表示が。最近では常についているような感じになってきました。もちろんディーラーで解除必要です。車検後、エアコンの温度設定もできなくなってきました。窓もあけるとガタガタ言いますし。もーいやです。買い替え検討してますよ。

V６に10年乗ってJAFの厄介になったのは1回だけ。
プーリーの歯が飛んでエンジンから異音がして車載でディーラー行き。
そのほかは、燃料系の不作動で交換2回、
ホーンボタン戻らずで交換1回。
故障らしい故障はこんなものです。

最初に乗った156TS2.0はひどかった。
4年間で壊れた箇所
・セレがシフト不能×2回（1回はレッカーのお世話に）
・ブレーキのマスターバック
・エアコン×2回
・オーディオ（1年未満で）
・パワーウインド
・雨の日にドアが閉まらない
・トノカバー×2回（はじけるように壊れた）
現在の156ワゴンGTA（3.2V6の2003年式）は2年間でまだどこも壊れていません。

GTVはシフトリンケージが壊れました。開けてびっくり！こんなに力のかかるところがかなり貧弱なプラスチック部品で出来てました。こりゃ壊れて当たり前だ。精度の前に部品の設計に問題がある場合もあるみたいですね。
それと配線カプラのカシメが緩く接触不良になることが多いようです。セレの故障の原因はこれでした。
ただし、例えばトランスミッションのギア、クラッチ機構、エンジンのバルブやピストンなど、基本構造に問題があるような故障は一度もありません。
まっ、壊れても好きだからしょうがないんですけどね。。。

156が好きで二台目なんですが、一台目はベルトの限界を見極めようとしたら10万越えでこま飛びでバルブ突いてオシャカにしちゃいました。
セレは中、後期型モデルで扱いさえ気をつければ大丈夫だと思います。ＡＴと同じノリで負担を掛ける乗り方すればすぐ壊れる予感はありますが。
Ｖ６モデルは重いので車が前のめりになってきます。エンジンマウントのブッシュ類がヘタリやすくそのまま乗ってるとアンダーカバーを擦ります。
ＪＴＳモデルはウォーターラインがエンジンのすぐ前にあるんですが、これが水漏れするのは持病らしいです。
電気系統は耐久性が高いとは言えません、例えばウィンドウのアクチュエーターやスイッチ類は長く持たないと思います。
センサー系も不調が出ると聞いてはいます。

基本的には大きなトラブルというのは起き難いですが、不調が起き、直すためにも常時30万くらいはあった方がいいです。
「イタ車はトラブルありき、直して乗るもの」だという考えがあれば苦じゃありませんよ。
最低でもベルトは要交換、Ｖ６の場合、エンジンマウントがヘタってきたらブッシュ類は交換、ＦＦなので負荷が前部足回りに掛かりやすいと思います。
センサー系などが原因ですがアイドリングに違和感、エンジンに不調を感じたら放置しない。
コレは鉄則だと思います。

、壊れるというイメージと言うか評判が独り歩きしているのは、初期のセレスピードに由来するトラブルがほとんど。
それだけで、壊れるクルマという烙印を押されてしまった。
なので、実はMTもしくは、V6のQシステムというグレードを選べばかなり楽に維持できるクルマ。

エアコンが効かない(夏)

夏の冷房が効かない
原因
不具合ではなく、そもそもキャパシティ、風量が少ない
対策
我慢するしかない
もしくは、エアコン吹き出し口を加工して風量をアップさせる
添加剤を入れて気を紛らせる

助手席のエアバックセンサーの接触に問題
この問題は右ハンドル車に出るもの？左ハンドルの私の156では一度もない。
対策
対策はないらしいが、ディーラーでアルファダイアグによりキャンセルしてもらう。但し、それでも再発することも多いらしい。
車内水漏れ

原因
マスターシリンダーの取り付け部の樹脂が折れて、シリンダーが宙ぶらりんになるトラブル。
これも98年～99年初期にみられた問題。
対策
リコール届があった模様。対策品への交換。

給油中にガソリンが溢れ出るという話

もともと欧州は給油口の径が小さく、日本のガソリンスタンドのノズルの場合はエアの抜け口が十分に確保できないことが原因らしい
対策
給油時はストッパーで給油が停止したらそれ以上入れない
私の場合
99％セルフで入れるのだが、これまで溢れたことはない

ウィンドウレギュレーターの破損
対策
交換しかない。但し私の場合は、この破損を確認したものの、そのまま放置。今のところ問題なし。
サーモスタット故障
事象
水温計が低温を示す
原因
サーモスタットが開きっぱなしになる
対策
消耗品と割り切り交換
燃料ポンプ
事象
車内がガソリン臭い
原因
劣化によって燃料ポンプからガソリンが漏れる

ドアミラーがゆるゆるに
事象
手による可倒式なアルファ156のドアミラーだが、経年劣化によるものか、このドアミラーがゆるゆるになる
原因
ミラーとその台座を固定している部分が外れる。無理がある構造となっていていつ起きてもおかしくない。
対策
このトラブルに遭遇しないためには、できるだけ日頃からミラーを倒さないこと(笑)。不幸にもトラブルに遭遇したらアッセンブルでミラーを交換するか、ミラーと台座を固定してしまう。ミラーは、ネットオークションでも度々出品されており5000円ぐらいから手に入るが、いずれも構造上の問題であるため特に中古のミラーを購入した場合は、同じ問題が発生する可能性がある。よって、なにかしら発生しないようにするためには固定してしまうのも手。
私の場合
左ミラーで発生。タイラップで固定してしまった。

１５６と一口に言ってもＴ．Ｓの５速マニュアルとセレスピード、Ｖ６のＱシステムと６速マニュアルがあります。後にＧＴＡのＶ６にセレスピードが加わりました。とかく故障の権化のように言われたセレスピードですが、今回はそのセレスピードを取り上げてみました。
ご存知のようにセレスピードは、本来のオートマチックトランスミッションのＱシステムと違い、マニュアルミッションのクラッチ操作を油圧で機械に任せたシステムです。ですから、実際に乗ると坂道などではクリープしないのでブレーキを踏んでいないと後ろに下がってしまいます。こんなところはちょっと前のＣＶＴに似ています。ある程度アクセルペダルを踏み込まないとクラッチが繋がりません。最初はこの感覚がわからなくてギクシャクしますが、半日も乗ればどのくらい踏み込めばクラッチが繋がるかがわかってきます。

最近セレスピードを手に入れられたお客様から言われたことですが、「シフトアップ時の間が長い！」で、何とかならないのか？っと。私も初めてセレスピードに乗ったときは同じ印象を持ちました。「これならマニュアルのほうが早いじゃん！」多分多くの方が同じ印象を持ち、何とかしたいと思っていらっしゃるのでは？実際に手に入れて色々試して見ました。「ＣＩＴＹモード」で全て機械に任せると本当にかったるい感じになってしまいます。「マニュアルモード」で乗るといくらか解消はされるのですが、それでもこちらの感覚とは若干のずれがあるのは同じです。色々試してみました。じょじょにシフトチェンジ時の回転数を上げていくと以外にもこちらの感覚に近づいてくるのがわかってきました！５０００回転以上までひっぱってからシフトチェンジをしてみると・・・・・速い！
これは面白い！セレスピードを乗って初めてスポーツカーを感じた瞬間でした！

そんなセレスピードも使い方を間違えるとトラブルを起こしてしまいます。先に言ったようにセレスピードはクラッチ操作が機械任せというだけでマニュアルとなんら変わりありません。オートマ免許でも乗れますが、基本的にはマニュアルが乗れないと操作は難しいといわざるを得ません。もちろん、「ＣＩＴＹモード」がありますから物理的には可能ですが「ＣＩＴＹモード」の場合、半クラッチ状態の時間が長くなりクラッチの消耗は早くなります。これはフェラーリのＦ１マチックも同じで３５５や３６０でも「ＣＩＴＹモード」ではクラッチが２万ｋｍもたないくらいです。又、渋滞などで「ＣＩＴＹモード」で走っていると、「マニュアルモード」使用時よりも長い時間クラッチのアクチュエーターに圧がかかりますから、セレスピード事態の故障にも繋がります。逆に言えば、壊れる壊れると言われたセレスピードも乗リ方によって壊れたケースもあるんだと認識させられました。と言うことは、そこのところをちゃんと理解してマニュアルモードで積極的に乗ってやれば、セレスピード恐れるに足らないということですよね！

運転中に突然ウォーニングランプが点灯すると嫌な気持ちになりますよねえ
内容によってはすぐにクルマを脇に寄せてエンジンを停止しなければならない物もあれば、チェックエンジンが点灯していながらほとんど影響のない場合もあります
いろいろな制御方法や車種があるので、一概には言えませんがどうやらモトロニックは同じパターンのようです。
ＢＭＷのＥ39で去年の6/28に書いたブログで、より細かいデータストリームが見れたBMWで、結果ABSセンサーの不良と誤診しまして、その後ABSユニットの不良となるわけですが、２度同じ轍は踏みません。それは今年の7/23の、僕のアルファロメオ166のウオーニングランプ点灯に生かされます。
そして今回。同じくABSのウオーニングが
ABSとブレーキウオーニングが同時点灯で尚且つスピードメーターが不良の場合、ボッシュのモトロニックを使っているクルマはABSユニットを疑って間違いないようです。
もう今回はずばりABSのユニット交換と断定して作業を進めました

この妙に傾いて入るブレーキフルードのサブタンク。
このクルマ、何故かサブタンクの取付が全て斜めになっています。
冷却水のサブタンクも、パワステフルードのタンクも。
メカニックのEくんは斜めになっていると、MAX、MINの意味がないじゃない
と憤ります
これがABSユニットです。
もう診断機を接続しても応答がありません。完全に音信不通です。
熱で基盤に問題があるのでしょうね。今年の夏もなんだかんだで暑かったですから
新しい（中古の）ABSを装着しました。
エア抜き後、診断機を再度繋げて、試乗+エラーを消して問題がなければ、完成です。
ABSユニットは新品を買うととんでもない値段ですが中古部品を使うことにより部品代はかなり軽減できたと思います。

i hope someone of you could give me a hint.
First of all, sorry for my bad english. If something is unclear, please ask. I will try to explain it better.
My Story:
2007 I bought a Alfa 147 (2001) and one year later my car started to get an ABS EBD ASR-Failure. At the beginning it was just ones a month, but since a half year it started to appear about 90% of the time.

I bought an KKL-Cable and downloaded FiatECUScan. It said the problem is C1276 ABS/ESP SV Relay (haven't got ESP). After this i went to some Alfa garage and changed the hole ABS unit (an used one from Ebay.. 2000€ for a new one was too expensive). For 2 weeks the problem was gone, but now the

same failure appears again.
I have changed the fuses (F42 and F4) and the battery (new is at 12,76V - engine off).
I also checked the ECU-connector. Seems to be fine and clean.
I think - but I'm not 100% sure - the failure appears more often when there's dampness.
On nice days i can drive some time without having the problem appearing.

Sometimes the failure appears when i start the engine, but most time it appears when i drive between (20-50km/h).
I really don't know how to search on. I'm thankfull for every constructive proposal.

how old is the battery ... the ABS unit is very sensitive to bad voltage ... also get the terminals on top of the battery make sure they are nice and clean and have a good connection, I once got this error when I was doing some work on the car and hadn't reconnected the battery connections properly ..

battery terminal seems to be fine.
the connector to the spoiler brake light is fine, too.
I have some worries about the rust.
on a nicer day i will have a look on the cables to the spoiler brake light. I seems that i have to take off the whole boot lid - or at least the covering !??

Actually I read the first post wrong, it's the handbrake switch at fault, permanant short to earth so I'd say you have the hand brake light on all the time or never at all. Which means this whole problem is under the center console, but the boot on yours is an issue too.

The hand brake light is off, as long the failure doesn't appear.
After the failure appears following lights are on:
ABS-Light
ASR-Light
hand brake light
The hand brake light also appears, when I pull the hand brake. As normal..

Found Earth Connection C12. Seems to be fine. Nothing loose.
All brake lights working fine, too.
Repaired the rust spots. Hope this helps.

Had a similar problem on mine it was a miss match inside the prake pedal switch just needed a new switch.

I thought about that, too.
But..mostly the failure comes without pulling the brake pedal. Could it still be the brake pedal switch? Can i test the switch with a multimeter?
btw. cruise control works fine.. (goes off after pulling brake pedal)

hey,
i've replaced the brake light switch... but failure is still there
yesterday (nice weather) the failure stayed off.
But today it rained.. Failure appeared again.

i've checked the rear abs connectors.. seems to be fine and clean.
i've recorded the wheel speed with fiatecuscan.. and i my rear right sensor dropped to 0 km/h for a second.
See my xls file on row 336 or check the diagram.
I will record it once again to check if that happens often.

still haven't found a solution
done some more abs wheel sensor testing..
Like you can see on the pictures, one sensor is always breaking down to Zero. But i don't know if this causes the failure or if this is "normal" (fiatecuscan 2.X)
For me it looks like there's something wrong with the connector on the abs unit, because it's always another sensor which is breaking down. I have opened the connector once, but all cables looked fine for me...

「ブレーキプレッシャーセンサーｆａｕｌｔ」との結果。
「センサー交換すれば簡単じゃん・・・」と心の中で計算。部品も１万円もしないだろうし交換も楽勝。と思っていたのです。そのセンサーはＡＢＳユニットの脇に付いている→が付いた部品です。ＢＭＷのオイルレベルセンサーだって１．５万円、サーブのエンジンの横に付くオイルプレッシャースイッチだって３千円ですからね。
で、入庫してからいろいろ作業して行くと当初の目論見と違うむことが判明。

フルブレーキングで1G制動を行った時の制動力は車重と等しくなるので、4輪合計で1300kgfの力がタイヤ-路面間に発生していることになります。
この時のフロント側の油圧をあれやこれやで計算すると、たぶん75kg/cm2(約7.5Mpa)くらいになります。
ブレーキペダルは、てこの原理によってドライバーの踏力を増幅しています。
ペダルの寸法を測ってみると、約4倍の増幅率になっています。
ここで、380kg/4=95kgになります。
S15スペックRのブースター倍率は、
おそらく9.5倍！
くらいではないかと。
