In the wiring diagram I sent you, you can see the component labeled "G70/G42". This is the MAF Sensor (G70). It is also the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) Sensor (G42). As you can see they do not designate the separate circuits for air flow and temperature functions. Nor do they designate which wires go to which circuit.

Its kind of like a circuit board or computer, you no longer test and repair individual circuits. If there is a problem, you just plug in a replacement unit.
If you have not already done so, please rate my answer at this time as OK, GOOD, or EXCELLENT. With a lower rating I will not be compensated. Please contact me with your concerns if you cannot rate my answer OK, GOOD or EXCELLENT.

Disconnected MAF sensor, engine runs better.

My 2010 GTI gets a bunch of engine codes such as all the misfire codes,
P0606 Processor Fault,
P2177 System Too Lean off Idle,
P0101 Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) Implausible Signal,
P2188 System too Rich at Idle.

When cold it misses and the check engine light flashes. When warm it will miss as you come to a stop, sometimes it stalls. The tailpipe is black with carbon soot. I tried disconnecting the MAF sensor and it runs much better. I'll see tomorrow if the cold miss is gone but does it sound like a bad MAF sensor? Is there a way to test it?

check the fuel trim, clear the faults, start it up and go to the basic setting for fuel trim and let it idle.
See where the fuel trims go and how fast they get there.

Just for clarification, the obvious FIRST step would be to check the g/s reading from the MAF.
How would you go about finding what it should be? Someone else's logs?
