Friend has an "EPC" warning light lit on the dashboard of his Polo. He does not have a manual.

Anyone any idea what this is for?

EPC - Electronic Power Control (i.e. Engine Management system) fault. Means there is most probably something wrong with a sensor signal. Could be the brake light switch as mentioned above. When fault is fixed the light will go out.

replaced mass air flow sensor. worked for a couple months. went to a local mechanic and had the check engine light error codes printed.
codes 17965-turbo pressure control limit exceeded
17705-turbo/throttle valve pressure loss
16705- secondary air system fault. next visit to the dealership - replaced throttle body. worked for 4 or 5 months. now the epc light still on.

engine rev's up and down when in idle i have no power to the throttle i can press the peddal down and nothing happens engine doesnt rev.

HELP EPC light on!!!
i went for a drive today the car ran good after about 15 min my epc light came on and now my car wont go past 2200 RMP and also my check engine light is on??

please i need help i just bought my vr6 less than a month ago. im kind of new with the vr6 stuff before the gti i had an audi a4

制動灯スイッチ内部の接点が不適切なため、制動装置作動時に接点が焼き付き、焼損または熱変形する場合がある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、制動灯が点灯したままの状態、または、制動灯が点灯しなくなる状態となり、シフトレバーが操作できないおそれがある。
対策全車両、制動灯スイッチを対策品と交換する。
