P0031で、O2センサーのヒーター回路でした。

http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/maintenance-service-repair/82038-cel-p0031-p0032-fix.html

CEL Details:
P0031 - Front oxygen (A/F) sensor heater circuit low input
P0032 - Front oxygen (A/F) sensor heater circuit high input

So after allowing it to annoy me and fester for the past few weeks, I decided to get proactive and fix things. I read up on Nasioc.com and ClubWRX.net all I could find about these CEL's and the findings were really slim.

Some folks talked about how they had to replace their O2 sensor, and just paid their local dealer to perform the replacement. Others tried using a multimeter and checking resistance between all of the (4) leads going from the engine bay wiring harness down to the O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold "Y" pipe. (Yes Snowvert, where the stock headers meet up before the uppipe. )

The O2 sensor in your exhaust manifold actually is labeled as an (A/F) sensor, and the rear O2 sensor behind your last catalytic converter is actually a true (O2) sensor. I priced out a replacement sensor for the front, and on http://www.SubaruParts.com they wanted $153. (YIKES!!) For the rear O2 sensor, it's like $114 or so.

Anyway, I wasn't about ready to walk over to Wagner Subaru and hand them a few bills and let them have at it. So I went back to AutoZone and rented an O2 sensor socket and went to work!

After getting inside the engine bay and unplugging the wiring harness for the O2 sensor, I then crawled underneath the car (which was on ramps) and got behind the passenger-side front wheel where the O2 sensor is located. I removed the sensor (with a bunch of needed force, there was serious corrosion on that exhaust pipe going on...) and noticed that one of the (4) wires had melted clean through!

I realized that when I did my uppipe install with a friend, there is a metal bracket that attaches to the O2 sensor wire and also gets bolted to the engine block. This bracket keeps the O2 sensor wire in the right place and keeps it from getting melted by exhaust heat from the heat shields. Because that bracket never got re-attached, my O2 sensor wire was dangling dangerously close to the engine block and melted through!

I took a quick trip to Radio Shack with my roommate and we got all the necessary items we needed to solder a patch wire in and fix up the harness. Plugged it all back in, and voila, no more CEL P0031 or P0032! What a deal!

I feel like a million bucks today, and driving to work without a CEL for the first time in a month felt really good. (Gave me reason to speed like a maniac too! )

The Viton rubber coating is one of Dupont’s high performance elastomers. In technical terms, Viton flouroelastomer rubber based material will easily handle temperatures from -40° to over 400??F with the ability to withstand temperatures up to over 700°F for short periods.

P0302, P0304 & P0306: cylinders 2-4-6 misfiring.

I have the same issue on my 2010 model with 45,000 miles. Plugged in the scanner and got codes P0302, P0304 & P0306: cylinders 2-4-6 misfiring. Had the vehicle towed to the dealership. They held it for a day, checked everything, cleared the codes and test drove over and over to try to get the codes to come back.

Nothing came back so they returned the car. It's been 3 months without any issues until today, the same codes are back. The car seems to drive and idle normally. I'm going to try to erase the codes and see it if they will come back before taking it back to the dealer. Luckily I bought the 100K warranty package.

BTW, the Check Engine, Cruise Control and Traction Control will go off at the same time since the computer is putting the engine into limp mode if it thinks there is a problem to protect from further damages. Cruise Control and Traction Control are disabled at that point.

I highly recommend an OBD code scanner for all car owners. I bought this one from Amazon for $23. It plugs directly into the port under your dash and communicate wirelessly with your smart phone via Bluetooth.

Here's a link to the product: http://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products-...s=obd2+scanner

If you take your car to the dealership for them to scan the codes, it costs almost twice that amount. Also, you can use this on all OBD2 vehicles (1996 & up).

Lights were coming on for me because my wife was putting regular gas in the tank. Codes were coming up as emissions and missfires

I had the same problem scanned it and misfire cylinder 3 came up probably a coil pack fouled spark plug.(fingers crossed). ..reset code and hasnt come back

^ The fuel injector is another possibility

Those three things are common causes of single-cylinder misfire/roughness in modern Subaru Boxers.

I've had this problem since I bought my 07 new in 2006. I have a long, well documented and expensive service history with Subaru with diagnostics that included everything from misfire codes, gas cap and fuel issues to an expensive O2 sensor replacement. I've even had the lights return as I pulled away from the dealership after they "fixed" the problem.

The last cure, reversing the sensors from one cylinder bank to the other (one was probably "too sensitve"), has mitigated the occurences but it still happens every once in a while. I've finally given up trying to figure it out after 85k of dealing with no cruise control and annoying flashing all day and night long. My new fix is to pull a battery cable, breaking the circuit which resets everything and all is well till the next time. Good Luck.

Had this happen to me as well. Scanned the code and found 11 codes. Cleared the codes and waited for the first to come up.

Solenoid control issue. p-0028 is the code in question.

The first time this went of, it started a cascade to the other codes.

I visited the blogs and what I found was the most common suggestion is that the oil is a little dirty. Slug may have affected this valve.

Got some good engine oil cleaner. This is put in a cold engine, let warm up for 15 minutes. YOU ARE NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR DURING THIS TIME!!!
The cleaner thins out the oil and also cleans gunk and slug. This is why you do not want to drive the vehicle.

Once the cleaning cycle is done, dump the oil and change your filter.

Fresh oil and filter.

Cleared the code (autozone helped) and it has not come back since. Driving a few weeks now. I'm confident that was my problem.

Cleaner and oil change is an inexpensive way to address this code issue.

If cruise blinks and engine light comes on again, you will need to get codes read again. There may be more wrong.

P-0028 code issue solved with a good clean and oil change.

Cheers and good luck

Just to mention that the FSM for 2006 model does not list P0228 in the diagnostic section. But P0xxx codes are generic and the official description for P0228 is
"Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "C" Circuit High". That does make sense in light of the symptoms, although it indicates an electrical fault and not one with the lubrication system.

I went with the easiest first. Oil/Engine cleaner, dump oil, add fresh oil and filter.

For me, it took away the CEL and blinking Cruise. Cruise is functioning again. No warning lights on at all any more. Bianca drives perfectly again.

Let us know how you make out.

Cheers,

Sorry, I misread the code. According to FSM, the code is for the pressure switch that monitors variable valve lift. Perhaps that DTC forces some sort of "safe mode" where other systems are disabled.
