What is P1676 code - FPTDR Signail Fail
Anyone know what the FPTDR is?
I have a P1676 code in my 99TL - FPTDR Signail Fail.
I also recently got ABS & TCS lights illuminated simultaneously while I was driving.
The P1676 might have happened at the same time.

Thanks,
-Groucho

Mine is still under an extended warranty and I'm taking it in tomorrow.
I'm not sure if the ABS/TCS is related or not.
I originally thought my engine was missing, but there's no missfire indicated by the computer.
If I'm driving at normal highway speeds & I let off the gas to slow down about 5 mph then apply about 1/4 throttle it feels like the engine misses for maybe 5 seconds.
I reported it to the dealer about 4 months ago, but they couldn't find anything.
Hopefully now with the code they'll be able to figure something out.

Car 1: 3.2TL
Car 2: 2.3CL
Car 3: 88 RX-7 Convert Autozone scanned my 2001 3.2TL and found same P1676 code.
Interested to know if anyone found fix?

I think the code definition is "Traction Control System FI Data Line No Signal"

Posts: 38 My local dealer called me today.
He said their service manual directs to clear the code, run the car for a minute and see if the code returns.
It didn't return in the 60 seconds he looked for it, so he said there's nothing wrong with my car...despite getting ABS/TCS lights twice in the last week and the hesitation/missing problems I have. Aparently the car didn't exhibit any missing/hesitation when they drove it around the block.
"Could not duplicate" means I get stuck with the $105 diagnostic fee. Great.

Reset the PCM.

Check for continuity between body gound and PCM connector terminal E1.

YES - Repair short in the wire between the ABS/TCS control unit and the PCM (E1).n

NO - Go to step 6.

Basically, it's an ABS/TCS control unit failure......

Posts: 38 Thanks for the great info! Since it's an intermittent failure and no bad pins or connectors were found, is there anything I need to do to keep a full failure from happening in the future? My car has 96k on it with a 100k AcuraCare warranty. I'd really hate to have them say it's ok now only to have it fail right after my warranty expires.

Thanks again Tim - awesome service!

Car 1: 2004 Ford Mustang Since you have an Acuracare warranty, bring it in and let them sort it out. Might as well do it now, since it's still covered

Posts: 38 I brought it in yesterday and they just reset the code & sent me on my way. I was told today that the hesitating my car is doing is perfectly normal...even though it didn't used to do it and no other car I've ever driven (including other TLs) do it.

A customer was at the dealer the same time I was with a tranny acting up in her RL (also under AcuraCare warranty). They "couldn't replicate" it either and didn't want to replace her transmission...she told me that when she asked they didn't even test drive her car. Amazing.

Tim- My wife & I are looking to buy a new TL, but we're not about to give our local dealer any money because their service department is so bad. Is there any way to swing a deal through your dealership?

Thanks again.

Intermittent ones can be the tough ones to diagnose because unless it's occurring right when the technician is working on the car, you may or may not be able to create or replicate the problem. Hard codes are easily traced, not so with intermittent failures. Not at least examining it or test driving the vehicle, is bad service IMO.
